Nissan AMIEO DEI Annual Report FY2023

Introduction

Friederike Kienitz
Senior Vice President - Sustainability and Corporate Governance (SCAG), Nissan AMIEO Chairperson - AMIEO DEI Council

Since publishing our inaugural report 12 months ago, I am pleased to say we have continued to embed our commitment to DEI in the day-to-day operations of Nissan AMIEO. But we are just getting started. Yes, we should celebrate our achievements so far - some of which you will find in this report - but, more importantly, we must prepare ourselves to go even further and faster in the years ahead.

Preparation starts with being accountable for our actions, and this annual DEI report is our commitment to you to be transparent on this journey. In FY2023, the regional DEI Council met regularly with the regional DEI Steering Committee, chaired by Guillaume Cartier and supported by the regional Senior Vice Presidents, to discuss where we are, where we want to be, and how to get there. One of the key achievements of the DEI Council in FY2023 was its ability to strengthen our DEI foundations in all AMIEO markets. The Council provided each market with a best practice toolkit, giving them the ability to create their own DEI Action Plan that’s consistent with our regional ambition.

We must also keep investing in building an inclusive culture and workplace. That is why in FY2023, we expanded our reverse mentoring initiative across the region, rolled out regional DEI trainings and created an Equity Toolkit featuring practical, real-world examples to help colleagues identify and overcome bias.

It has been great to see the amazing work being done at a local level too with DEI initiatives taking off in various countries across AMIEO. From Egypt to Australia, India to the UK, I have been inspired to witness first-hand the passion of our people in ensuring that Nissan is an inclusive and enjoyable place to work.

And finally, we have to keep talking to each other. In FY2023, we launched the Nissan Way DEI Award to recognise and celebrate teammates who go the extra mile to create an inclusive culture. I am heartened by the submissions and feel incredibly lucky to work alongside such kind and intentional colleagues.

As a company it is our duty to create an equitable and inclusive environment that helps all our people, customers and partners be their best and most authentic selves. As this report shows, we can feel proud of how far we have come. But I am even more excited about where we will go in the future.
